bleh…
Today's rant is kinda long, I've got lots to catch up on. First, there are two major reasons why I haven't gotten to updating anything recently.
Item #1: The Work Week From Hell
Okay, here's the deal. I work for Aramark Campus Dining for the University of Virginia, Concessions Division. So my job is to make sure the concession stands at the UVa Sports Arenas are in working order. In other words, I move hot dogs from point A to B. Typically, this job is pretty slack, depending on the Sports Event schedule. But last week, I felt like a headless chicken running about. With 10 events over the course of 5 back to back days to set up for (Which included helping prep for Graduation), you can imagine how tired I was come the end of each day. After I was done, I just wanted to relax. This is the main reason nothing has been done.
Item #2: Shenandoah Productions & The Mossy Creek Coalition
Now typically with work I get weekends off. Sweet deal, I know. But this is not the case for the weekend following Item #1. My grandfather has taken up videography in his retirement. And ever the caring outdoorsman, he does lots of work surrounding his ultimate hobby of Fly-Fishing. A lot of his videos are for conservation groups, which is awesome. Now I promised to be the Audio/Lighting tech for his latest project, which we filmed the weekend after Item #1. Being about an hour and half from home kinda puts a damper on what one can accomplish on his website. On the plus side, I got to get away for a weekend and I had some fun.
For those who are curious. The video was about Mossy Creek, a spring creek in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It's got some nasty agricultural pollution problems. The video is to help inform people about the problem and what needs to be done.
Now I have things I just need to vent about.
Item #1: Of Mother and Cars
The night before I left to go help film the video, Mum (how I refer to my mother) and her significant other, Dave, (my parents are divorced BTW) were supposed to go to Up-State New York for Dave's daughter's college graduation. But their car died. I've acutually lost count of how many cars they've lost over the years. Anyways, since I was going to be out of town for the weekend, I offered to let Mum borrow my car for the time being, on the aggrement that she had to get an inspection while I was gone (it was expired). But nothing involving my Mum and automoblies can ever be simple.
I return from the film shooting on Monday, all is well. Until I check our messages. Apparently Mum had gone to the gas station (with my car obviously), and had failed to pay for gas. In Virginia, this is a Driver's License Revoking offense. So I call the police back to get the details. Then I call Mum so that I can get my car back, and inform her of her mistake. Needless to say, I'm probably a little bit irked at the moment. So on top of this, my car had apparently failed inspection. Needless to say, I'm none too happy with my car and the trouble it has caused me while outside my care.
Item #2: Sprint Will DIE!!!
I honestly never thought the day would come when playing a video game would lead to me causing my Dad an inconvinece. I use dial-up since I can't get High-Speed where I live. So playing Final Fantasy XI for many hours a day has caused a bit of strife between Dad and I. So we took the obvious solution, get a 2nd phone line! I'd like to say, the communism is a great idea… in theory. Getting a 2nd phone line was a great idea… in theory! (sorta).
The purpose behind getting the phone line was so that I could waste away my life on the internet, without inconviencing Dad. I've spent the past several hours attempting to figure out why on the primary phone line, my ISP connects at about 45 k/sec, and the new line connects at about 16 – 24 k/sec. I have fiddled with just about every connection possible, and even checked all the primary lines to make sure what my connections needed to be. I tackled the problem HARD! It just keeps tackling harder. So I'm kinda angry with them right now.
Okay… venting done.
So there's nothing new but I've got a nasty backlog of pictures I need to work on. I should try and get the sketches up and running soon. I haven't gotten around to working on the ILB site, or the Forum for that matter. Work just sucked every ounce of energy I had and now I'm slowly getting it back. I'll try and get something up by this weekend.
Oh… and I have an idea for a new murf-ART section. We'll see what happens with that!
