Well, things are progressing well here at murf-STUFF I would care to think. Feb. 2005 has proven a landmark month for me and the site in a variety of ways. According to my various stats pages, I've had more visitors, hits, bandwidth use, etc. over the course of this month then in the entirety of April-December of last year (the time I had the site). I've done 1 comic a week for the past 4 weeks, granted murf-ART has taken a hit due to the fact that things in my life are little haywire right now and my new focus on the comic.

With good comes bad. After fully exploring my site stats pages, I learned how to track things down about how people are reaching my site and what not. I've never had any formal training in webmastering, so no mocking me now. However, I had discovered several sites (crapfully run blogs mostly) who were using my wallpapers as backgrounds for their sites. Normally, I'd have no qualms with this. But the problem is that they didn't even bother to download the image off my site, and further upload it to theirs. Just used a direct tag. Thus, “stealing” bandwidth from me. Granted, I was guilty of this practice in my early days when I was roughly 13-14, new to the internet and didn't know any damn better. The biggest issue here being, beyond a doubt, that as of right now the wallpapers are the largest files on my site. I've taken temporary steps to hopefully halt this practice for the time being. If you were one of those people, I've got my eye on you, I know where your sites are. Do it again, and you'll hear from me personally. Keep doing it after that, and I'll remove the damn things outright. SO KNOCK IT OFF!!! IT'S STEALING!!!

Enough of my ranting about that topic. Mum had surgery for her cancer this week and as far we can tell things are looking good! We'll get to know the details of everything next week. If you're a REAL nice person, you can send “Get Well” e-mails to “mum[at]murfstuff.com” Just be sure to remove the [at] and use @ instead. Hate to have her mail get all junked up with spam.

Greg, Shane and John went to Katsucon for a day. I couldn't go since I had to take care of Mum while she was in the hospital. Greg got me a Naruto headband while he was there. I'll be sure to add a picture of it later. Until then, peace out y'all!

Hey… would ya look at that. I've been maintaining regular updates admist all the distractions in my life. Well, once again, time to fill you in my life. I'm not sure if you really care, but I need some form unacceptable output so you'll just need to bare with me.

Where do I begin… ah yes, work. So I quit Aramark, and began working at the Buffalo Wing Factory. Well, things aren't going as planned, and my job is hurting due to lack of bussiness and assorted other problems. As such, I'm barely making enough money to get by. And with the restaurant being closed for a week, that doesn't do my currently breaking wallet much good. So I'm on search of alternative employment. I've got several applications out and about, but things are looking a little bumpy right now. Hopefully this week will bring about a change in my luck on that.

School. The days tick by, and I'm one step closer to attending school at Full Sail. Murph and I currently running through the gauntlet of financial aid so that I can sell my soul to bank for several years just to learn how to excel at my job for the rest of my life. Trust me, I couldn't be happier about that really.

Finally, is news about my dear old Mum. Well, she's 47, she's not THAT old. Anyways, Mum has followed in the footsteps of my dad and developed cancer as well. Breast cancer to be precise. Thankfully, as was the case with dad, it's still young and should be treatable. Regardless, looks like I'll need to watch myself when I'm older considering my family's history (both sides) with the cancer demon. My good old optimism seems to be in full kick over the whole thing, and always hoping that things will turn out for the best in the end.

So aside from all the troubles and joys of life, I'm doing well. The site's really doing well and I'm glad. I'm taking some intiative in promoting the site via what means I can. So, show your friends, put a link on your site, give me a hand out there. I'd really appreciate it. Well, peace out for now. Catch you on the site, World of Warcraft or somewhere.

Oh yeah, some of us may be attending Katsucon for a day this weekend. If you can manage to pick us out, be sure to say hey. I'll be sure to say something later if we're going or not, and who is.

Oh… and check it out. You've now got a drop-down menu to allow you to quickly access past rants aside from having to just clicked the “Last Rant” option over and over. Unfortunately… I don't know how to keep this little thing updated on other pages save for changing it every and having to upload it. That's WAY too much effort so you just get it here. You'll live I'm sure.
