New Life… New Layout!
HAHA! Bet you weren't expecting this, were ya? Whole new layout for the ol' murf-STUFF dot com! It was kind of a spur of the moment decision. The new layout is only going into the main sections for now, but I intend to take it into murf-ART and ILB as well. Sorry for the long, long delay in finally getting back to the site, but here we go.
Nothing in particular stirred the decision to change the site's layout other then me getting tired of the old layout. It looked nice, but I've decided with a less graphic intense interface for now. Otherwise, as you can tell, not too much has really changed for the overall style of the site. I'll probably add some little murf-characters around the page, but time will tell on that one. So, onto the ranting you've grown so fond of, I'm sure.
Let us begin with what I must say, isn't the happiest of news. If you came to the site the past few weeks, you may have been confronted with a Black Page. I've had several comics, and moments to dedicate things to those in my life who have passed away. This was different, my grandmother, Lois MacKenzie, died on the afternoon of June 4, 2005. The last two people, Neil and Chyler, were people I knew. This is the first time in my life that I've lost a family member. So, even though I've taken down the Black Page that I used to mourn her passing, I'm going to take a space at the bottom of this rant, like I did with Chyler, to honor her memory.
Now, with that rough bit of news out the way, let us move onto more positive things to tell. For the past 15 years, I lived in Central Virginia. That's a long time, or at least it is to me having only been alive for 22 years. Now, at the age of 22, I'm no longer a denizen of the area that our 3rd President, Thomas Jefferson, called home. I'm now instead smack-dab in the middle of the one state who relies on the financial support of retirees, illegal immigrants, tourism and disaster relief. I now live in Central Florida, not too far from Orlando in a burg called Winter Park. Just down the road from me is this nifty little place called Full Sail. Guess what kiddos? I go to school there. With one month finished, only one year remains before I should hopefully be off into the world holding my shiny diploma.
Quite oddly, I feel like a minority at this school. No, not racially, but rather by my degree program. I'm here to study Digital Media. So, with all due hope I should be making some more nifty alterations and additions here at murf-STUFF as I learn all about making proper websites and graphic design. I say I feel like a minority, because over half the school population is in the Recording Arts program. There seems to be a school wide joke about RA students and their creation of “phat beats,” so I'd get used to seeing that phrase since I've already started doing it.
So, my first month of classes had me taking classes from 5pm-9pm. This was a factor in me not updating last month. I'd wake up at 2-3, go to class, come home and putz around. Now, I have class from 9am-1pm. So with some initiative, I should get some stuff going up here shortly. I've been busy getting adjusted to life here, but now I feel as though I'm ready to get back into my groove again. I've got some stuff (not much) that I can toss up here, which I'll get to later on. So bear with me.
Before I leave you to go putz around the new layout, I've got one last thing to do. In my last rant in which I thanked a lot of people, I accidently left out one person in my list of friends. So, I'm going to give him his own special thanks right here:
A special thanks to John Coleman, who not only was a good friend, but also managed to keep my crappy cars working. Thanks John!
