Return from the abyss!
Ah… it's good to be “home.” I only say that in the context of this being my homepage, and I rarely update the beast. Yet, I always feel content and comfortable when I return to my site, enter my admin system, and start writing away. It's as if I've relieved some mighty burden from my shoulders, stand on the mountain top, and reign my words from on high to the faceless masses that, as always, I'm sure are but figments of my overactive imagination. Enough of that however! It is time to babble inanely for no reason other then my own personal satisfaction!
First and foremost! If you've come here anytime in recent months (and your memory is worth anything), then you may notice the sudden disappearance of the Flash header. Yup, got rid of it. It served no real purpose other then a certain “cool” factor that I wasn't in any particular great need of. Also, on note of the header, I've changed it some. Nothing too big, but most assuredly worth noting. There's also some changes “under the hood,” but no point in boring with that technobabble. Just stuff to make things easier on me is all.
So, how goes the life of murf you ask? Rather well, thanks for asking. As I write this little spiel at 4:00 am, I'm already halfway done with my FINAL CLASS at Full Sail! How's them apples? If they're anything like my Mac, then they're pretty hardcore. Sorry about the past like… 8 months. School was nuts. Let me give you the rundown. I started core classes in August 2006, and in that time I have:
- Learned Illustrator
- Relearned Photoshop
- Learned After Effects
- Learned 3D Studio Max
- Learned Flash
- Relearned HTML, along side learning CSS
- Learned PHP and MySQL
- Made a level for Unreal Tournament 2004
- Learned Director
- Made a game with Director
- Made a short video
- Made my interactive portfolio with Flash & Director
- Learned proper print design / InDesign [currently learning]
That's a lot of stuff. That's just school too, nothing on the side is mentioned. Although to be fair I didn't have much in the way of time to do side projects. The only real side project I've done, is now complete! That would be my portfolio / hub site: murf-DESIGNS! Exciting, no? Well, I'm fairly excited about it. This site is to be handled a bit more professionally then murf-STUFF, as it is in fact a means to promote myself and my skills. When I call it a “hub” I basically mean that “murf-DESIGNS” is the name that I now work under for all my own personal projects. So go that out if you do so wish.
I've gotten a bit off track it seems. Ah yes, my life, as it were. Well, my time in Florida is quickly drawing to a close, and the plan is to return to old central Virginia, and of course, hope to land myself some employment in my new found area of expertise. Nothing too exciting, but hey, that's my life.
Now with murf-DESIGNS having been fully coded and up and running (mostly), and now that I can once again focus my attentions back to murf-STUFF. I plan on getting on the long-awaited redesign for murf-ART, seriously. I've been wanting to do it for ages, and I've got my most massive backlog of sketches EVER! I'm not sure how long it will take to do as I not only need to do the HTML and CSS, but the PHP as well, and I've got some neat plans on that end, so we'll see how that goes.
I think that is all I have to say for this joyous return to where I belong. With that said, until next time… take care my young ones.
