The weights are lifted…

October 29, 2006

Finally, at long last. murf-STUFF, as a whole, is caught up from its mammoth down time. A great burden has been relieved, I'll tell you what.

With this update, murf-ART is now totally up to date with all the art from times past, the last entry being from this past Friday.

Also, this update launches my reworked wallpapers section. Nothing in terms of appearance, but simply code. It's been uber streamlined from the clunky system that it used to run on. Also, there are new wallpapers in its hallowed halls once again.

The main reason I wanted to push through the content these past weeks is because I am working again at last. Doing web-design at a local company here in Charlottesville, so I felt that having that backlog sitting around was going to become problematic as I got acclimated to having a schedule again. Now with that out of the way, I can REALLY focus on getting new content up as I make it.

So aside from simple murf-ART updates, there are a few things under the covers here at murf-STUFF that should hopefully pop-up here before the year's close. Until I've got something worth tossing at you rant-wise again, I'll bid you farewell.

Times of change

October 12, 2006

Well. Time comes and goes here at murf-STUFF as it has in years past. I make stuff, sometimes people come see it. It's the lot I fill in life.

Although sparse in updates, ILB has always been among the more popular things here at murf-STUFF. Well, as I have spent many of the past months catching up on redoing the designs of all my pages, ILB is the last. It's up, and I'm content.

Last, you say? What about Nocturnal Studios. Well, I'm came to a conclusion the other day. I made Nocturnal, and I never did anything with it. While it was nice to have that on here to account for my video type endeavors, I never updated it after I made it. I just don't do enough for video to make it worthwhile. While I would love to share these videos with you still, I've opted to put down Nocturnal Studios. The undertaking to redesign it wasn't what got to me, but rather the PHP side of things. All in all there was a lot to take into account for Nocturnal, and I felt that currently it is not worth my time. In due time, it may return from the precipice, but that remains to be seen to any extent. It breaks my heart, but it is for the better I think.

ILB however, is back in style. I've got stuff to say for it, but I've left that to be said on the ILB page, where it belongs. All you need to know up front is that ILB is back, and the re-design for murf-STUFF 3.0 is officially DONE! Rejoice, for now I can begin to focus on content once again. That's all I've got to spew out for now, so take care my friends and I'll see you some time soon!

Boy is it ever Mon… Tuesday!

October 10, 2006

Hello again all. How are you today? (Seriously, I'm running out of way to say this stuff).

Like these more constant updates, I know I do! WOOHOO! Now… people just need to come here, and I'll be solid. Anyways, today's update thing-a-ma-whatsis is fairly neat, and should at least be of interest to people using Internet Explorer (GET FIREFOX!), as I have very kindly gone a fixed *most* of the CSS bugs I had. There may be one or two that lingered as I'm stuck updating on my Dad's computer thus forcing me away from my Mac (cry), and not having ready access to files to check if something isn't right, and Dad's computer lacks all the cool programs I have that let me do things better.. like Dreamweaver…

Anyways, so you've got fixed CSS bugs. Along with the fixed bugs is a redone rant area. Little more dynamic in appearance, and not *as* boring looking, ya likes? You've also got new art to look at this week. Aren't I nice? I know, thank you. This weeks art features a boatload of stuff from the “Legend of Xan'Lamar” concept so all you FF-XI fans are in for a treat!

As for now, my project plate is still really full. Got a nice handful of things I'm attending to. ILB and Nocturnal are in them, but Nocturnal may go away here soon as I want to basically tear down and start brand new, although depending on what happens, it may not come back at all, sorry.

Also, once I'm done with at least ILB, I'm probably going to be redoing my goodies page from scratch to implement new code that should make it better and easier to maintain.

There's also a secret project hiding under the covers here. Not gonna say anything other then keep an eye out. For now, I take my leave of the web as I am tired from trying to fix bugs from not being able to update from my own machine. Take care until next time.

"apos" upon ye!

October 2, 2006

So… I'm sure I've battered into your little murf-STUFF visiting skulls that I 100% ABHOR, DESPISE and LOATHE Internet Explorer. Recently (via the aid of Mike G.) I was shown a handy way to take a text block input through my CMS, and turn certain characters such as the ampersand (&) into their proper HTML code so my HTML would be valid, as well avoid some unsightly issues I was having with inputing stuff into the version of MySQL I have here.

Well, as I opted to look at my IE version (this is currently a pain for me to test properly), I noted how out of whack things currently look, and that my rant title was showing the literal HTML code for an apostrophe! “apos” indeed! Why does Microsoft hate me? I mean, seriously. With crap like this it's no wonder I've become a devout member of the Mac crowd! I've fixed this little sore now, but I'm still irked.

My plate is pretty full despite being jobless right now. And fixing the IE glitches in the system doesn't sound like a fun time. Seriously… it is a chore sometimes.

In other news: murf-ART's January 2006 backlog has been added! And with it, a nice little PHP system glitch. Don't fret, it's not major. The base Sketch of the Day index is not displaying the stuff it should. A few minutes work to fix. I'll get to it some time this week. Depending on how the week goes, I may just fix it when I added the Feb. backlog next week.

Also, if you haven't been following the news “ticker” lately, the forum has been purged clean, started fresh and sports a very nice style that fits right in with murf-STUFF. Sadly, I destroyed the database for it all in the process, so when I say purged, I honestly mean it. It's a brand new forum all over again. Go and re-register if you were on it before.

I think that's all there is to say for now. Until next time: never eat soggy waffles!!!
