I'm pleased to inform you that the murf-STUFF portion of my PHP overhaul is complete.
Now, I'm going to progress into the CMS portion of the project, so that way when I start updating new content, it'll auto post that stuff for me. Cool deal huh?
This is the annoyance extreme of my life it seems. I'm so dead set on the CODE of my site, I never have content. Seems like all the work I do is under the hood mumbo-jumbo that no one can ever truly appreciate.
Well, I can sit here and promise until cows fly and pigs come home (or something like that), but I won't. It seems like I hit these things in phases.
I could shoulder the blame to a lot of things, but I think a lot of it boils down to my own general laziness. Between work and home, it seems I have truly little “me” time which is not conducive to creating and updating content.
Here's where the “code” over “content” issue REALLY plays in. When I learn new tricks, I like to use them, and anything I can do to make the site EASIER to use will be greatly beneficial because it requires less of my time so updating doesn't seem like some major chore.
I recently figured if I could take some leg work out of content posting, that'll help my initiative a bit. Sadly, my biggest annoyance cannot be solved via PHP… and that's scanning. For some reason, my scanner becomes a nice table top for various stuff to call home (stemming from my general laziness in cleaning my room), so that impedes the process.
So… yea. I'm changing things around here at murf-STUFF again. My News post will tell you more about that, but another PHP overhaul is underway, but no real design elements, so just under the hood stuff.
Hope you like the new setup, I do. It really has me wanting to do stuff to update with since I now have such a nice system to keep you up to date on happenings around the site.
Well, here's the deal. Layout wise, the front page has been moved, changed and had multiple things done to it. However, it's basic content has never really changed that drastically. Updates, rants and a welcome spiel.
No more. Figured the front page was due for complete re-hash.
The welcome spiel? Gone! Now, instead of rants, news and updates can get full write ups and what not and be displayed here on the front. Each of the three types of postings can also be viewed individually in the Archives pages.
Also, quick thumbnails and links to the most recent major art and ILB comic, so you can quickly see when those were last posted to.
The calendar is nice addition I think. If box has that deeper blue, it means I updated on that day, and clicking on that box pops open a small window to show you all the updates for that day!
Lastly, is the “Current Work” section. This shows current projects that are either being worked on or coming up soon. You can read about it and check its status.
Although it isn't implemented yet, I'll be reworking my Content Management System to auto post “Update” type posts. So when I put up new art, an auto post is made. Same with ILB. This will ensure that when I DO update, I don't forget to notify you. For now though I'll need to do it by hand.
You may notice a couple of images out of wack or some busted items in STUFF, but I'll be rounding out the rough edges on murf-STUFF proper this weekend, then proceed into the CMS. The new update system is key, and I want to make sure it all works smoothly before I post in new content to murf-ART or ILB (which I have, but not much).
