So you want to know about me, eh? Fair enough
While you best know me as "murf" others better know me as "Davis." "murf" originates from my last name, which if couldn't guess, is Murphy. So, the not-so-mystery of my nomenclature is uncovered.
I've been doodling things since I was a youngster, and I've been putting things on the internet since I was about 13. Up until my mid-high school years, I was more of writer then an artist in that I would develop ideas and I'd usually have a friend gifted in drawing help to bring my characters and what not to life.
However, when I was 16, my good friend Jacob moved away, and I was then on forth stuck drawing my own stuff. Having recently been intoduced to anime at the time, my art style started to deviate in that general direction from the Simpsons-esque cartoon style I was using up to that point that hadn't really altered or gotten better since I was about 10.
As time progressed, I began to dabble in the internet again, making (terrible) websites that served a variety of purposes. Eventually, I submitted a guest strip over at Real Life Comics that seemed to garner some buzz in the forums. So, after the poking of other forumers there, I hopped to and created murf-STUFF in about the span of a week with my fairly limited knowledge of HTML and the use of FrontPage.
As I began to work on murf-STUFF, I came to realize how little I knew in the field of web and yearned to learn more because I really enjoyed doing it. This got me looking at schools, I decided that Full Sail was the place for me to go. After an intensive 13 months, I walked away having not only improved my skills in Photoshop and HTML, but could now boast Illustrator, After Effects, Flash, CSS, PHP, MySQL, 3D Studio Max, Final Cut Pro, Director and InDesign in my bag of skills. Not to mention walking away with awards for Perfect Attendence, Advanced Web Design 2 (PHP/MySQL) and Digital Media Assembly (Digital Portfolio).
Currently, murf-STUFF resides in its fourth iteration. And now functions using XHTML, CSS and PHP.
I live in Central Virginia and work at local digital media firm where I'm a Web Designer/Developer.
I like drawing, web development, gaming, anime (One Piece in particular) and pasta. I'm also a devout member of the Macintosh Cult. Also, through ways of my enjoyment of anime, I've become interested in Japanese Culture. I used to be more outdoorsy in my youth, being a fly-fisherman, but I haven't done that in years. Hopefully I can coerce Dad into an outing soon.
I'm on deviantART [link], where I often post my colored art in addition to murf-ART.
I think that's all I really have to say for now. So peace out, and enjoy my stuff. It's here to be viewed, ogled and gawked at. Peace out y'all!
