So who the hell is "murf," and what's up his stuff? Well I'll tell ya!

I'm murf. "murf" is my internet alias, my tag, my screenname. Whatever current the current internet circles call it these day. My electronic pseudonym. It's an shorthand of my last name: Murphy. Those who know me however call me Davis. So, yea: murf == Davis Murphy.

I'm a mid 20-ish male living in Central Virginia. I'm a creative sort of person, and also generous. I've opted to share my creations with the world (ie: You!) courtesy of Al Gore's marvelous invention that is the internet. Yes, I'm fully aware Al Gore did not, in fact, invent the internet but its just funny.

--- History of murf ---

For as long as I can remember, I've been the creative sort. Originally, I had the tendency to come up with ideas for stories. A trait that continues to this day. I always had a skilled artsy friend to come to my aid and draw stuffs for me. Well, around 16 that stopped and I was forced to draw things on my own. It has taken a lot of effort and time, but I now find myself a half-way decent artist kind of guy.

Around 13 or so, I was introduced to the internet. Shortly thereafter, I was introduced to making websites. A hobby that I maintained on and off for a few years. In high school a took a class in Pascal programming. In 2004 I made murf-STUFF (another history lesson coming up shortly). As I made murf-STUFF, I came to really enjoy working on the site, but I felt my knowledge in the topic was generally lackluster. After 3 years as a member of the workforce, I went off to get an education.

I ended up receiving my Associate of Science in Digital Arts and Design from Full Sail Univeristy (then called "Full Sail Real World Education"). I learned a great breadth of skills in a manner of areas but I primarly placed my focus in Graphic Design and Web/Multimedia Development. I even got a special award for my work in my PHP class. After graduation, I got a job back home in Charlottesville at a small media house where I work to this day. That's about it for now.

--- History of STUFF ---

As noted previously, I've been around on the internet since I was 13 or so. I've all sorts of sites that just never quite made it. My crappy personal site, a games review site, a site for DragonBall Z fan creations, and so on. In April of 2004 I made a guest comic for Real Life Comics [link]. Rather quickly, the forums were abuzz with questions about the identity of the mystery artist. After some enthuiastic response, I got working on a website.
