From the Brink of Destruction
Posted: Mar. 23, 2008
Yet again... months without updating! It's the same old song and dance once more here at murf-STUFF. Can you go longer without updates? I certainly hope you can, cause it's gonna be a while.
First, there's the Vana'diel Heroes. This is my linkshell on Final Fantasy XI. Things are starting to go strong with this crew I've assembled. I'd like to imagine the primary reason being the site I've built for it. It's full of all sorts of nifty features that I'm constantly improving on. A lot of my time is devoted to doing stuff in FF and working on that site, but I'm starting to whittle it down to where there's still a good chunk of work to do, but soon I'll be SUPER content in it without much need to improve on it. I've been working on it since January, so that's been a lot of my time these past months.
As I've been working on it, I've come to strap in a few more PHP tricks and the like. In doing so, I'm ready to bring back the murf-STUFF. First though, this site needs some "under the hood" work. A lot of it actually and I don't think I'll be ready to being updating things again until I've got it REALLY well patched up. The stuff I did last time needs to be overhauled AGAIN to match up with some new ideas and the like.
First of all, no graphical redesign on STUFF or ART. I like these as is, so this is all code overhaul to make things easier on me and my server. The main beast is not tackling the front end code (the stuff that affects you, the visitor) but rather my admin back end. This will require a lot of clean up and what have you. So I need to manage to balance my Heroes work, with my murf-STUFF work and somehow manage to find time to play FF while I'm at it.
Is this the beginning of another "grand return" or just another boom to be fizzled with time. Let us pray for the former. I'll try to keep you posted as this overhaul gets worked out.
